JL2 Defence Services have been embedded within the Joint Strike Fighter Division (JSF) acquisition program since 2009 supporting their requirement for project management, acquisition and systems engineering capability.

The 5th generation JSF is highly connected and software enabled platform with a significant need for systems configuration, cyber security support and engineering sustainment. JL2 provided systems and IS engineering expertise to develop and operationalise a new leading-edge test, verification and sustainment capability. This new capability supplies software engineering, cyber security, systems administration, testing and hardware sustainment services in support of the F-35A capability and is a one of a kind capability within the F-35A partner community.

The unique nature of the capability dictated the design and building of a new facility to be located at RAAF Base Williamtown. JL2 worked closely within the Defence Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) team to design the facility, taking into account the very specialised and unique nature of the requirements.

This called for a close working relationship with all the trades, architects and construction companies as well as with the systems supplier Lockheed Martin in the US. Following the handover of the finished facility in December 2016, JL2 managed the 18 month stand up and operational test and evaluation of the capability, delivering it to operational readiness this year in readiness for first aircraft arrival from the US in December of 2018.
